University of the Sea in Chile Admission Requirements

Admission to the Master of Science in Biodiversity Genetics is annual. The admission call opens in February and the process begins in the first week of July. The procedures and criteria in the selection of students are the following:

  1. Certificate of studies with a general average of 8.0 preferably.
  2. Admission Test.
  3. Interview. A commission formed by PTC of the NA evaluates the experience and viability of the applicant according to the entry profile.
  4. Two-month preparatory course. The applicant for the MCA must take and pass a set of subjects. The preparatory course allows, in addition to leveling and evaluating students’ knowledge, to distinguish aspects that may seem subjective such as their capacity for teamwork, their general attitude towards postgraduate studies and their adaptation to the environmental conditions (climate, services, etc.).
  5. Academic background (bachelor’s degree, curriculum vitae, letter of reasons, two letters of recommendation given by professors or researchers).
  6. Present proof of English language approval. A level equivalent to 450 Toefl points is an entry requirement.
