The entry requirement for the above programmes are as follows:

Core Subjects: Credits in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science

Elective Subjects: Credits in any 3 Electives: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography.

NOTE:

  • Only applicants to the Geomatic Engineering programme can substitute Chemistry with Geography.
  • Applicants to BSc Land Administration and Information Systems programme should have Credits in any three (3) Business or Science electives or General Arts electives from among these subjects (Economics, Geography, Mathematics, ICT, History and Government) in addition to the above core subjects.

GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates Applicants

GCE Ordinary Level Certificate applicants or its equivalent must have credits in 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and GCE Advanced Level Certificate with passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Mature Applicants

Applicants should be at least 25 years of age and should have WASSCE/SSSCE or GCE O’ Level Certificate with credits in 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject with experience in the relevant area of study. Applicants must pass a written examination and /or an interview. Mature applicants must also possess birth certificates which are, at least, five (5) years old after the date of issue.

International Applicants

Applicants with equivalent qualifications will be considered for admission.

Specially Sponsored or Fee-paying Applicants

Applicants who satisfy the University’s minimum entry requirement of aggregate 36 but cannot meet the competitive departmental cut-off aggregate can apply for admission provided they have sponsorship to cover their full fees

MSc/MPhil ENGINEERING PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (1-8)

  1. Applicants must have a BSc Degree (Second Class Lower Division or better) in the relevant discipline or related Engineering programme from a recognised University, which are adjudged suitable by the Departmental Board.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the relevant discipline who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR OTHER MASTER’S PROGRAMMES (8-13)

MSc/MPhil in Mathematics (with Specialisation in Computational Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Engineering).

  1. Applicants must have a BSc Degree (Second Class Lower Division or better) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering and Physical Sciences from a recognised University.
  2. Applicants who do not satisfy (i) above but have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics with Economics, any Engineering field or other related physical sciences and are adjudged suitable by the Departmental Board may be interviewed.

Master of Business and Technology Management / MSc Engineering Management

(This is a weekend  programme)

  1. Applicants must have a BSc Degree (Second Class Lower Division or better) or its equivalent in Business, Social or Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
  2. Applicants with UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply.

 Note:

Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree (Third Class/Pass) with relevant industrial experience in the field may be considered by some Departments for admission for the MSc/MPhil programmes after passing an interview.

PhD PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (9&10)

PhD in Occupational Health and Safety

  1. A candidate shall hold a Research Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering and Technology, Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised University and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.

PhD in Mathematics

  1. i) A candidate shall hold a Master’s Degree in Mathematics (with specialisation in Statistics, Computational and Financial Engineering) or its equivalent from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. ii) A candidate, who does not satisfy the requirements stated above but is otherwise adjudged suitable, may be admitted.

Note:

A PhD applicant who does not hold a Research Master’s Degree shall first register for a master’s degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient calibre by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD Degree. This registration shall be deemed retrospective from the date of the original registration for the Master’s degree.
