University of Management and Economics

In 1998, Battambang High Education Center (BHEC) was founded by Dr. TUN Pheakdey who had just graduated from Maharishi University in Prey Veng Province. Maharishi University was supported by Samdech Chea Sim, president of the senate, and AACF organization. BHEC located in a small building in Battambang City and there was initially a lecturer and twenty-five students who studied Accounting.

In 2000, BHEC was transformed to Institute of Management and Economics (IME) in accordance to sub-degree 42 អនក្រ. បក dated on July 17, 2000 approved by Prime Minister Hun Sen Hun, the Prime Minister of Cambodia. IMF, firstly, located in a building to the north of Psaler Market with 86 students, 12 lecturers, and 10 staff. IME provided Associate degree, Bachelor degree, and short courses. In 2002, IME moved to a new location with a bigger building which was well equipped with standard educational materials. The new location was in Prek Preah Sdach Village, Prek Preah Sdach Commune, Battambang District, Battambang Province. There were 500 students, 26 lectures, and 23 staff.
