University of Concepción Admission Requirements

Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree Admission Requirements:

Those people who meet one of the following requirements will have the right to apply through the centralized admission route to the Universidad Católica del Norte:


  • Have an average score of 458 points or more, between the Mathematical Competence (M1) and Reading Competence tests, with the exception of applications for Pedagogy careers, where a minimum average score is not required but compliance with one of the first two requirements to access pedagogy careers indicated in the thirty-sixth transitional article of Law No. 20,903 (modified by Law No. 21,490 of 2022), indicated below.
  • Have a high school grade average that places them within the top 10% of their class, in their educational establishment.

Months of the date of application. Usually, a combined minimum verbal, quantitative and analytical score of 1500 is required.

University of Concepción Admission Requirements for International Students

International students must meet direct entry requirements for the degree programme for which they are applying. International applicants must have one of the following:

  • At UCN we are part of the Higher Education Access System, therefore, to apply in the 2024 admission process, it is necessary to have taken the Winter Transition Test (PDT) 2022, regular PAES 2022, Winter PAES 2023 or regular PAES 2023.
  • To carry out the admission process you must register within the corresponding deadlines and comply with the different stages established in the official calendar, informed by the Undersecretary of Higher Education through its official website http://acceso.mineduc.cl and www.demre .cl
  • To apply for each career you must have current scores in the different required factors. This means that you will have to have taken Reading Competence and Mathematical Competence M1 (or Reading and Mathematical Comprehension in the case of the PDT) and the elective tests required by these, which may be Sciences or History and Social Sciences, and additionally Mathematical Competence M2 (or Mathematics in the case of PDT) as appropriate. If you do not have a score on a required test, you will not be selected for that race.

University of Concepción Scholarship

The fundamental objective of this program is to promote postgraduate studies and contribute to the development of undergraduate studies. The potential scholarship recipient is the accepted applicant or regular postgraduate student who is characterized by having outstanding academic performance and the ability to collaborate in teaching at the undergraduate level, under the direct supervision of a University academic.

The Scholarships awarded by the Postgraduate Directorate are for Postgraduate Programs with financial administration dependent on the Postgraduate Directorate (according to the available financial resources), which contemplate the following benefits (they are not incompatible):

  • Partial or total exemption from Registration Fee (does not include payment of Registration Fee)
  • Monthly allowance, for the following periods – distributed over a period of 10 months (March-December or April-January)

Requirements:

To propose the granting of the scholarship, the Faculties will take into account the following conditions:

  • Minimum weighted average of the applicant: 5 (scale of 1 to 7).
  • Regular student status at the time of applying.
  • Student should not have sanctions, for any reason, at the University.
  • The student must not have spent more time in an undergraduate degree than “degree time + 1” in the degree of origin.
