UNIVERSITÉ ASSANE SECK ZIGUINCHOR

Pedagogically opened in February 2007, the University of Ziguinchor has been called Assane SECK University since March 2014. It is by decree number 2008-537 of May 22, 2008 on the creation and organization that the university is recognized as a public institution.

In the 2000s, the idea was first to create a regional university center (CUR). However, with the political will linked to the expansion of the university map and in view of the needs and potentialities of the southern region, the institution was created as a public university.

One of the key ideas was to promote the South destination, to create an institution open to society and capable of integrating the needs of the region into its approach. It was also a pretext for Senegal to open a gateway to the sub-region by responding to the need for training.

With 2 UFRs (the UFR Sciences and Technology and the UFR Economics and Social Sciences), the University of Ziguinchor therefore started with 257 students, 20 teacher-researchers and 30 administrative, technical and service staff.

The first 7 departments were Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Management and Applied Computer Science.

Today, it is Professor Courfia Kéba DIAWARA who presides over the destiny of the institution, having succeeded Professor Omar SOCK. The main mission of the Rector is to administer the institution by referring to the decree of organization and operation and other regulatory texts. Its essential role is to support the 3 components of the university, namely teacher-researchers, students and administrative, technical and service staff.

UNIVERSITÉ ASSANE SECK ZIGUINCHOR Admission

New Senegalese high school graduates are admitted to UASZ on the basis of a selection of files which is done via the orientation platform of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. This platform,  CAMPUSEN, allows new Senegalese high school graduates wishing to continue their higher education at UASZ to request guidance in the training offered. It is open for a well-determined period during which any bachelor who has not made his request on the site within the prescribed time will not be guided.

New foreign baccalaureate holders

Due to its sub-regional and international vocation, non-Senegalese high school graduates can be directed to Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor on the basis of files to be provided. Applications are now made from the CAMPUSEN platform which will send the electronic files to the UASZ. To be eligible, it is necessary to hold a baccalaureate or to hold a final pre-university diploma totaling 12 years of schooling (Bissau-Guinean students).

As the majority of courses are offered in French at the UASZ, the bachelor must have a satisfactory knowledge of the language to pursue studies there. Thus, non-French-speaking candidates must provide a document certifying their level of proficiency in French.

UASZ will proceed with the online pre-registration of students. This aims to facilitate the registration process for students, by allowing them to pre-register via a web platform ( which will be available shortly ) integrating a certain number of dematerialized steps. The platform will be open to any student or new bachelor authorized to register at the Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor (UASZ). After online pre-registration, students and new graduates must go to the education department to finalize their registration and collect their student card and school certificate.
