UNIVERSITÉ AMADOU MAHTAR MBOW

The second (public) university of Dakar was created by decree n° 2012-1474 of December 24, 2012 and subsequently named Amadou Mahtar MBOW University (UAM), by decree n°2015-532 of April 21, 2015, in honor of the former Minister of National Education of Senegal and former Director General of UNESCO. The UAM is integrated into the Urban Pole of Diamniadio as a higher education structure and will eventually accommodate thirty thousand students. This urban center is built on the concept of an industrial city where economic efficiency, social and functional diversity, waste treatment, energy saving, respect for the environment and an attractive living environment will be priorities. .

The UAM, as a higher education institution, aims to train students but also to develop a civic spirit and to make them aware of societal issues and the challenges of the future. Therefore, it is important to provide it with instruments likely to position it as a university center in which the culture of peace, equity and the feeling of belonging are strongly present. This is how a vast awareness-raising activity conceptualized by the ”  shared profile and values  ” approach» accompanies the students for a good appropriation of the values of ethics, professional conduct, civic-mindedness and citizenship, from which derive the rules of operation and the activities of the university community as a whole.
