National Film and Television Institute Admission Requirements
Academic Calendar: Spring semester (January – April); Summer semester (May-August); Fall semester (September-December)
Registration
At the beginning of each semester, all students are required to follow the under-listed process to register for all their courses in order to be recognized as students of the Institute. Registering enables students to attend and participate in lectures. Failure to register by the given deadline for each semester will result in students being prevented from writing the end of semester examination.
- Settle the required amount of fees for the semester at any branch of GCB Bank.
- Present the Bank Deposit Receipt Slip to the Accounts Office to Update your records.
- Proceed to Register online.
- Print two copies of the Registration Confirmation Slips and present the slips to your Head of Department (HoD) for endorsement.
- The Head of the Department keeps a copy and releases the other copy to you.
- Present this copy to the Accounts Office for issuance of Receipt for payment of Fees.
- Present the Slip together with the receipt to the Administration Department.
- The Administration will give you a copy of the slip. Present this copy to the Technical Department (ICT Office) for collection of ID Card.
- End of Registration.
Master of Philosophy
Applicants must possess:
- M.A. in Communication (Public Relations option) with a CGPA of not less than 3.5.
- A CGPA of 3.0 will also be accepted if the student has demonstrated a strong acumen for research but could not obtain a CGPA of 3.5.
- Applicant(s) must pass a selection interview.
Master of Arts
- A bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) or any accredited/recognized University, with at least Second-Class Lower Division.
Or
A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines from any reputable University with at least Second-Class Lower Division.
- A bachelor’s degree from any reputable University with a Third Class and 3-years relevant working experience.
Degree
SSSCE Holders
Applicants must possess passes (A – D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English, Mathematics and three (3) elective subjects. Applicants to the BA Translation programme should have French as part of their electives.
WASSCE Holders
Applicants must possess passes(A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English, Mathematics and three (3) elective subjects. Applicants to the BA Translation programme should have French as part of their electives.
Final year WASSCE candidates are eligible to apply as awaiting results applicants. Applicants are however to upload their WASSCE results upon release by the West African Examination Council.
GCE Advanced Level Holders
Applicants must possess a General Certificate of Examinations (GCE) ‘A’ Level Grade E or better in three (3) subjects, at least, one of which should be Grade D or better Credit passes i.e., Grade 6 or better in five (5) GCE Ordinary Level (‘O” Level) subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject, for non-science students.
Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)
Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE). Applicants may be admitted to level 200.
Diploma Holders
Diploma holders with a CGPA of 1.79 and below can apply to be admitted to level 200.
Intenational Applicants
International applicants with Baccalaureate and other qualifications may be admitted based on qualifications from their home countries for which equivalence shall be determined by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and submitted to the University. Evidence of proficiency in English Language may be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
