Mindanao State University
Starting in 1964 as Mindanao State University Preparatory High School in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, a mere adjunct to MSU Marawi Preparatory High School, MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography has grown into an institution of academic excellence. More secondary schools were established from 1967 to 1977 in the outlying island municipalities of Tawi-Tawi.
By 1990, 20 high schools were put up throughout the province. In 1984, MSU-TCTO Science High School and MSU-TCTO Child Development Center – Laboratory Elementary School were established.

- Undergraduate Scholarships – DOST-SEI
The S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program aims to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources which can steer the country towards national progress.
The Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program aims to: provide scholarships that will finance the education of talented and deserving students in their third year of college and who are pursuing degree programs in the areas of science and technology; and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources who can steer the country towards national progress.

- Scholarship for Dependents OWWA
A scholarship grant to qualified dependents of OFWs consisting of a maximum of Php 60,000.00 per school year until the completion of baccalaureate course (4-5 years). For incoming freshmen, the selection of scholars is determined through the DOST national examinations. Only the top 400 passers are considered for entry as freshmen; 600 slots are for those who are already enrolled in college.

Mindanao State University Admission | Required Documents | Application Form
For admission, prospective students should bring a short brown envelope, 3 copies of 2X2 ID pictures (recently taken close-up shot) and the following documents (with 2 photo copies of each):

- High School Report Card (Form 138-A)
- MSU SASE Report of Rating (with passing score)
- NSO-Authenticated Birth Certificate (original)
- Certificate of Good Moral Character
Mindanao State University Admission for Transferee
- Honorable Dismissal and Official Copy of Units Earned
- NSO-Authenticated Birth Certificate (original); and
- MSU SASE Report of Rating (with passing score)
(FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EARNED LESS THAN 42 COLLEGIATE UNITS)
- Step 1. Present the documents above to the attending admission personnel. Secure an Application for Admission form.
- Step 2. See the college physician at the College Infirmary for medical examination and from whom you secure a medical clearance to be presented to the admissions personnel.
- Step 3. Accomplish Application for Admission, making sure all solicited information are filled up as completely and accurately as possible. Incompletely-filled up or unsigned form will be returned.
- Step 4. Secure Notice of Admission.
You may now proceed and present your Notice of Admission to the registration adviser for the course you intend to enroll in.
Mindanao State University Admission FOR RETURNING AND SHIFTING STUDENTS
- Step 1. Present your official copy of grades (with photocopy) for the latest semester to the admission personnel.
- Step 2. Secure and fill-up an Application for Shifting/Re-admission form.
- Step 3. Bring the endorsed Application for Shifting/Re-admission to the appropriate registration adviser for action .(Your application will either be approved or disapproved depending on whether or not you are able to meet the required CGPA to the concerned program)
- Step 4. Bring back the approved Application for Shifting/Re-admission to the Admissions Office.
- Step 5. Secure the notice of shifting from the admissions officer.
You may now proceed to your registration adviser.
THE Mindanao State University -SASE (The Mindanao State University System Admission and Scholarship Examination)
- The MSU-SASE is a Board of Regents-prescribed system-wide examination that is administered once a year in various test centers in the country with each campus supervising a pre-assigned group of test centers;
- For several years now, this campus has been responsible for the conduct of the SASE in the following test centers:
- MSU, Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi (biggest test center)
- MSU Ungos Matata CAS Extension, Tawi-Tawi
- MSU Sibutu CAS Extension, Tawi-Tawi
- MSU Mapun CAS Extension, Tawi-Tawi
- MSU Sitankai Community High School, Tawi-Tawi
- Sindangan National High School, Zamboanga del Norte
- Liloy National High School, Zamboanga del Norte
- The MSU-SASE as its name implies is the basis for qualifying incoming freshmen to the different academic programs in the University’s many campuses as well as for the scholarships and grants that are offered;
- Each campus may set its cut-off scores for admission and scholarships provided no campus shall admit as regular students those with scores lower than the median score;
- In this campus, students who fail may be admitted in the Fisheries Technology Program of the COF or the Associate in Secretarial Science of the CAS.
Mindanao State University THE REMEDIAL PROGRAM
The MSU-Tawi-Tawi , in order to accommodate those whose scores are a little lower than the median, has been implementing the so-called Remedial Program wherein for the first semester of the student’s stay in the campus he is enrolled in a 9-hour per week remedial Math and another 9-hour per week remedial English. (Only upon passing both subjects is the student deemed qualified to be treated as a regular student)
