The entire program is of 5 years duration and is divided into 3 major components:

  • Premedical component:
    • This is the first component of the MD program.
    • It deals with the introductory component of medical degree program.
    • The duration of this component is 60 weeks or 1 Year and 4 months
    • It is divided into 4 semesters with each semester being 15 weeks in duration.
    • The semesters are termed PM1, PM2, PM3, and PM4.
    • Passing all courses in this component is the pre-requisite for a student to move to the next component
  • Basic Science component
    • This is the second component of the MD program.
    • The duration of this component is 75 weeks or 1 year and 8 months
    • It is divided in to 4 foundational semesters with each semester being 15 weeks in duration.
    • A fifth integrating semester acts as a   bridging semester between this component and the next one.
    • The semesters are termed MD1, MD2, MD3, MD4, and MD5
    • Passing all courses in this component is the pre-requisite for a student to move to the next component
    • A comprehensive Basic Science exam will be administered at the end of MD5 and passing this exam is an additional requirement to move on to the clinical science component.
  • Clinical Science component
    • This is the third and final component of the MD program.
    • This component is taught at the University-affiliated teaching hospitals in USA, UK, Antigua, and Nepal
    • The duration of the program is 72 weeks divided into 48 weeks of Core hospital clerkships and 24 weeks of Elective hospital clerkships.
    • It is divided into 6 semesters, termed as CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5, and CS6.
    • A comprehensive Basic Science exam will be administered at the end of this component and passing this exam is an additional requirement to graduate from the program
