Jamaica Theological Seminary Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements for Full Status

  • A minimum of 5 CXC (General Proficiency) and/ or GCE subjects with a combination of passes a I, II or III and/or A, B or C.
  • English Language and Mathematics are compulsory (Grade I or II required).
  • Applicants to the BA Theology, BA Biblical Studies, BA General Studies emphasis Biblical and Theological Studies must be a born-again Christian for at least one year and a member of a Church.

N.B. Students who do not have CAPE subjects will be required to do 30 credits as a preliminary to the programme.

Requirements: – 5 CSEC (CXC) or 5 GCE or the equivalent (SSC, Certificate, etc.); English Language is compulsory (Grade I or II required). Applicants must be currently working in a social agency having completed a minimum of five years of active service e.g. Children services, Correctional Agencies, Police Force, Military

Applicants who do not possess all of the above academic requirements are assessed for equivalent qualifications that include but are not limited to:

  • JTS Certificate and Associate in Leadership and Ministry programmes
  • HEART /NTA Certification
  • Secondary School Competency (SSC)
  • Professional courses (diploma and certificates)
  • Jamaica School Certificate Examination (JSCE)
  • JTS Extension Certificate programme (ETA)

Scholarships & Grants

Students are asked to check with the Office of Student Affairs or the Accounts Department for information regarding available scholarships.

Deferred Payment Plan

A written request must be made to the Chief Accountant in regards to the deferred payments. In the event that a Deferred Payment Plan is authorized by the Chief Accountant, the following will apply:

  1. A Deferred Payment Plan Agreement must be signed by the student
  2. A Deferred Payment fee will be charged to the student’s account
  3. At least 50% of the Tuition fee must be paid at the beginning of the semester along with all other fees (Auxiliary, ID, Health Insurance and Accommodation as applicable).
  4. The balance of the tuition MUST be paid in no more than three instalments over consecutive months and by the deadline established by the deferred payment plan agreement.
