College of the North Atlantic Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements:

  • Complete admission form.
  • Two (2) passport size photo.
  • Copy of the high school diploma and original for comparison (apostilled for foreigners).
  • Original high school credits (apostilled for foreigners).
  • Copy of ID (birth certificate for minors) or copies of passport if you are a foreigner.

CapU programs are open for everyone to apply, from early-entry high school students to mature student learners, from near or far.

Undergraduate admission requirements vary by program but, at a minimum, for most CapU programs, the school requires successful completion of:

  • B.C. secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent (B.C. Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma or General Education Diploma). International students: See International Secondary School Equivalencies.
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 (60%) is calculated on English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 and two academic Grade 12 courses.

Once you are admitted, you may need to pass the English Diagnostic Test if you are taking English 100, or the Math Placement Test to gain admission to certain entry-level Math courses.

College of the North Atlantic Admission Requirements for International Students

Admission Requirements:

All international students must meet the college’s English proficiency requirements for acceptance into regular programs. The college will accept most internationally recognized tests of English proficiency

  1. CAEL 60
  2. TOEFL paper based 550
  3. TOEFL internet based 79
  4. TOEFL computer based 213 or equivalent
  5. IELTS Academic Test overall band score of 6.0

If a language proficiency test other than those reference above was used, applicants can forward the results for assessment.

If an international applicant has attended an educational institution (high school or post-secondary) for a period of three years or more where the official language of instruction was English, the English proficiency test will not be required.
