General admission conditions for the BAC

These are the general admission conditions for enrolling in the Baccalaureate at BIU. They can change and are not necessarily the same each academic year:

  • A non-refundable amount of 175,000 BIF, representing the registration fees and the first tranche, must be paid to the bank into the account provided by the secretariat. When registering, the student submits the form to the secretariat. These fees are payable each time a new academic year begins.
  • Academic fees (minerals) are paid in installments shown on the leaflet (over the 2 semesters) according to a schedule set by the BIU management. This schedule will be communicated to students by posting or by email to the email address that BIU will provide to any student. These deadlines must be strictly respected. It is crucial to note that a student who has not paid the entire amount due after a certain date will be refused the right to take courses and will not be able to take tests or exams organized by the deanship.
  • Any decisions and important information concerning students will be communicated through the BIU electronic mailbox and it is up to students to consult it regularly.
  • A period of two weeks, from the day of first registration, is granted to all students to activate their BIU mailbox. The use of these boxes is obligatory, and there will be no excuses for a student who misses information posted on time in their mailbox.
  • The documents or information required by BIU, in order to validate registration, must be provided no later than 15 days after the start of the new academic year. The documents or information to be provided are:
    • Excerpt from birth;
    • Complete identity certificate;
    • Certificate of Civil Status;
    • Medical certificate of physical fitness;
    • A clean criminal record extract;
    • An updated Curriculum vitae up to the date of registration,
    • Certificate of good conduct, life and morals and citizenship;
    • A diploma or certificate of completion of secondary studies;
    • True copies of the originals of report cards from the last three secondary years;
    • A certificate of passing the state exam/state diploma;
    • Copy of the National Identity Card or Passport;
    • On request, three recent passport photos in color and good quality in the size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
  • All diplomas coming from outside the country (Burundi) must be approved by the competent Burundian authorities (Equivalence Diplomas) within a period not exceeding three months after registration. BIU reserves the right to cancel any registration which has not followed this procedure. In such a case, all fees (registration and fees) already paid will not be refunded to the defaulting student.

All BIU students are required to comply with the various BIU rules. These rules will be provided via the BIU electronic mailbox.
