Our three faculties are taught by top artists and art historians who achieve recognition not only in Slovakia, but also in an international context. They provide their students with individual guidance, convey their own knowledge and experience, open the door to their inner creative worlds, but at the same time provide them with a significant degree of freedom in finding their own voice and artistic expression. As a result, many students profile themselves already during their studies as unmissable personalities of young Slovak music, dance, theater and film and collect awards at international festivals. Students of art study programs are led to a critical reflection of the work of their classmates, which stimulates a revelatory interdisciplinary dialogue.
The College of Performing Arts was established by Act No. 88 of the Slovak National Council from June 9, 1949.
In the difficult period after the Second World War, it faced a difficult challenge. In a relatively short period of time, she was supposed to educate a sufficient number of craft-skilled and artistically advanced creators who were to fill important positions in the rapidly developing cultural institutions.
High-quality actors, singers, directors, scenographers, musicians and other artistic professions were needed by theaters, musical groups, and radio. Culture, on the other hand, needed its own reflection, which is why VŠMU also began to educate art theorists and critics. She tried to shape them in such a way that they could see beyond the horizons of the current development and push it further.

How to apply online?
- Register in the system After loading the page, click on Registration on the right . Enter your e-mail, first and last name and also choose a password . Using these data, you will be able to log in to the information system again, where you can save and gradually edit your applications. When entering data, check all data, especially your email address. You will need it for possible further communication with the staff of the study department or when you forget your password.
- Choose a study program If you have already registered, you can find the study program you want to apply for in the search window and put it in your “briefcase”. Then click on New application .
- Fill out the application Click the Fill button to get to the application. When filling out, you can proceed according to the manual . You can return to the application form and change the data. After each change, do not forget to save the application.
- Don’t forget the mandatory attachments After completing the application, press the Confirm button . The possibility to generate the final printed form of the application and the payment order for the admission procedure fee will be made available.
