Univerza v Mariboru
The immediate predecessor of today’s University of Maribor is the Association of Higher Education Institutions Maribor, which was founded in 1961 and brought together the first higher professional schools, which were founded between 1959 and 1961. The first of them was the Higher Commercial School, followed by the Higher Technical School a school with mechanical, electrical, textile, construction and chemical departments. In 1960, the College of Agronomy, College of Law and College of Dentistry were founded, the latter of which operated only until 1970. In 1961, the Pedagogical Academy was founded as the first college in Maribor, which was renamed the Faculty of Pedagogy in 1986. During this period, the Higher School for Work Organization was also founded in Kranj, which in 1972 became a member of the Maribor Association of Higher Education Institutions.
