The University of Makeni (UNIMAK) is a private university in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone that was fully accredited in 2009.

UNIMAK places “social development” at the heart of everything it does. For this reason UniMak has made great efforts to develop academic programmes that are rooted in the everyday reality of contemporary Africa. Currently there are approximately 1500 students, 147 full time lecturers, 30 part time and 31 visiting professors who make up the UniMak family.

University of Makeni Admission

UNIMAK welcomes all students who wish to follow one of its courses of study. All applications should be made on the University Application Form.

Applicants wishing to pursue Certificate, Diploma and Degree programmes must fulfill the following requirements:

Certificate level – 3 credits of WASSCE or ‘O’ levels in not more than two sittings;

Diploma level – 4 credits of WASSCE or ‘O’ levels in not more than two sittings;

Degree level – 5 credits of WASSCE or ‘O’ levels in not more than two sittings or 4 credits together with a Higher Teacher’s Certificate (HTC) from a recognized institution.

In all of the above requirements English Language should be included as one of the credits.

Post graduate programmes – applicants should have a degree (with a division two or better) from a recognised University together with at least one or two years’ work experience.

For Agriculture, applicants should have among his/her credits three of the following science subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics/Agriculture/Statistics.

The cost of the Application Forms for Academic Year 2017-2018 is Le 400,000 (Undergraduate) or Le 500,000 (Postgraduate). Applicants are required to pay at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank into the University bank account number 613417 and come with the bank slip to the College’s Finance Office to collect the Form.
