Universite General Lansana Conte Conakry

General Lansana CONTE University is one of the recent creations of the network of universities set up by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It was created by Order No. 2005/104/ MESRS/CAB/DRH dated 01/26/05 under the name ”University of Human, Legal and Economic Sciences of Sonfonia-Conakry”. It was then baptized with the prestigious name of the President of the Republic, General Lansana CONTE, on January 14, 2006. It is the result of the relocation of part of the Gamal Abdel Nasser.

The decision to create the UGLC SC was the consequence of a situation of imbalance between the reception possibilities of the University of Conakry and the growing number of students. Originally built for 1,500 places, the workforce of UGANC was around 16,000 students when the General Lansana CONTE University of Sonfonia-Conakry was set up. This is what justifies the measure consisting of decongesting this institution by moving the Faculties of Letters and Human Sciences, Law and Economics to Sonfonia as the structural base of the new University. Three Faculties and a School should constitute the initial academic structure of this Institution.

Universite General Lansana Conte Conakry Admission

Admission to the Master 1 is made within the limits of available places (50 per year) taking into account the quality of the files submitted. All graduates in political science, law, sociology and all holders of a Master’s or DES in political science, law, sociology or a diploma deemed equivalent are eligible. The non-refundable fees for opening and examining files are set annually. Those accepted will be informed by poster and will complete the registration formalities defined by the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences. (See the list of documents to provide for the file below)

  • Handwritten request addressed to the Rector
  • True copy of the original of the bachelor’s degree or any title deemed equivalent in one of the disciplines covered by the targeted training, with the mention Good or VERY GOOD (or equivalent mentions);
  • Copies of all diplomas and transcripts of marks obtained since the baccalaureate;
  • Copies of identity document or passport;
  • a detailed and updated curriculum vitae;
  • An extract from Birth;
  • Copy of the last student card;
  • Four passport photos;
