Universidad Rural de Guatemala

The University was founded on February 27, 1988 by nine people identified with the national agriculture, with the constitution of the Patronage of the Rural University of Guatemala, on that date.

The Rural University of Guatemala was authorized on March 28, 1995, by the Council of Higher Private Education. With this, a new chapter of higher education in Guatemala was opened, since a new university emerged from Guatemalan society, twenty-three years after the last university in the country had been approved. The approval of the Rural University of Guatemala, constituted the new era of private higher education in Guatemala, since from there more private universities were established in the country.
