In a time when only the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) existed, the creation of the first Private University in the country was dreamed of; This is how, in mid-1976, a group of distinguished Hondurans organized as the Honduran Association for the Promotion of Higher Education (AHFES), met with the aim of developing the Project that would revolutionize higher education in Honduras: the creation of the University José Cecilio del Valle, who was very well received by many sectors of Honduran society and by international organizations, who envisioned an opportunity for higher education in the country, which would allow the formation of qualified human resources.
The José Cecilio del Valle University (UJCV) opened its doors to the world of higher education on February 23, 1978, at which inauguration was attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations, distinguished businessmen, intellectuals and numerous people who offered their sympathy and moral support for his foundation.
