Cecilio Acosta Catholic University
The Cecilio Acosta Catholic University is a private university of the Catholic Church , founded in 1983 in the city of Maracaibo , Venezuela in honour of the prominent Venezuelan writer Cecilio Acosta . Among its foundations, the property is awarded to the Archdiocese of Maracaibo and it is defined as: Catholic, private, non-profit, democratic, experimental, autonomous, innovative and dynamic. In addition to having its own legal personality, university campus, technological platform, assets and assets, thus achieving, carry out an educational process at the service of the national community.
Among its objectives are:
1) Train their students within the framework of a holistic approach of academic and humanistic excellence.
2) Provide services to the community through extension and cooperation programs.
3) Contribute to the reconstruction of the country through ethical and supportive education.
UNICA has a student population of approximately 5,000 students, 60% of these students receive their classes at a distance and are distributed throughout the national geography.
Among the most important cultural events, the prestigious “UNICA Book Fair” stands out, organized annually by this university for several years and whose acceptance is international in nature with the participation of more than 30 publishers in each event.
