Sabha University
Sebha University is located in the city of Sebha, the largest city in southern Libya, a few kilometers away from Sebha International Airport. At the beginning of 1983, Resolution No. 187 of 1983 was issued by the former General People’s Committee regarding the opening of Sebha University as an independent university in the city of Sebha. In the beginning, it included the Colleges of Education and Science, and with the passage of time, many colleges were opened according to the needs of the region.
It initially included the faculties of Education and Science, then the faculties of Human Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering Sciences, Technology, Economics and Accounting joined them until the number of the university’s faculties reached twenty faculties distributed over the different regions of the south, one of them outside the country. It currently includes more than 25,000 students, more than 1,300 faculty members, and 3,500 employees, in addition to 9 research centers spread over the geographical area of the southern region. The university periodically organizes scientific and sports activities, exhibitions, scientific conferences, awareness seminars, training courses, and evaluation of scientific research in local and international scientific journals.
