The University of Prešov in Prešov (PU in Prešov) is a public university and within the framework of comprehensive accreditation it has defended its status as a university and its previous inclusion among university universities. He is a member of the conference of rectors of the Danube states – Danube Rectors Conference (DRC) and the organization uniting European universities and national rectors’ conferences, whose main purpose is to support a unified system of higher education in Europe, the European Universities Association (EUA). He is a co-founder of the Alliance of Central-Eastern European Universities (ACEU) and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). Within the aforementioned consortia, he participates in the preparation of joint study programs and international cooperation projects. Membership in the European Association for Erasmus Coordinators enables the implementation of current strategies regarding the mobility of students and teachers. In November 2011, it won the prize for participating in the National Quality Award of the Slovak Republic 2011 in the category C3 (other public sector organizations) as the only university in Slovakia.
The university is one of the stable and unmissable educational institutions in eastern Slovakia, in the Prešov region. It offers a wide range of study programs, many of which are unique in Slovakia. Fields of study and programs are divided into various subgroups, which include educational sciences, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mass media communication, economics and management, non-living sciences, living sciences, non-medical health sciences, personal services, ecological and environmental sciences. The university creates a space for the training of qualified professionals and at the same time develops creative and critical thinking, learning, understanding and encourages personal engagement. Special attention is paid to students with specific needs and at the same time to gifted students, who can use the incentive scholarship system as a motivation tool for quality studies. In addition to classical teaching, innovative teaching and learning techniques are used. By connecting theory and practice, process simulation and student practice, students are purposefully prepared for their future profession. Student or graduate internships can also be carried out abroad, e.g. within the Erasmus+ program.
