About the university:

Saint Euphrosyne Polotsk State University is a Belarusian public-owned university based in Novopolotsk and Polotsk.

The official seal of the university portraits the buildings of Jesuit College in Polotsk, respectively, which gave rise to the university in 1581.

The university bears the name of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, daughter of the Prince of Polotsk, the nun, abbess and educator, the first saint woman in the Belarusian lands.

The higher education in Polotsk has old traditions. In 1581 the Jesuit College was founded in Polotsk. On January 12, 1812 the College was reorganized into Polotsk Jesuit Academy according to the Ukaze of the Emperor of Russia Alexander I. The Academy was functioning during 1812-1820[5] and was the first higher education establishment on Belarusian land.

On July 14, 1968 Novopolotsk branch of Belarusian Polytechnical Institute was created. On February 10, 1969 it was decided to convey Novopolotsk branch of BPI to Belarusian Technological Institute. Since January 1, 1974 it became Novopolotsk Polytechnical Institute named after Leninist Young Communist League of Belarus. On September 14, 1993 Novopolotsk Polytechnical Institute was reorganized into Polotsk State University.

Since 2005 the study process of History and Philology faculty, and since 2008 the faculty of Information Technologies, has been carried out in former Jesuit College in Polotsk.

Since 2016 Law faculty and faculty of Physical Training Education are situated in Mezhdurechye.

THE PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT provides training of people who study in the last grades of high school, gymnasiums, lyceums and of those who have complete high school degree in order to get admitted to the University.

The Preparatory Department provides Russian language courses for international students and training of international students in order to enter any University in the Republic of Belarus.

All the documents that are in foreign languages should have a notarized translation into the Russian language.

STEP 3. GET A VISA

For admission to Polotsk State University, you need to prepare the following documents for your arrival at the Republic of Belarus.

STEP 4. PASS AN INTERVIEW AT PSU

For entering Polotsk State University it is necessary to pass an interview to assess the Russian proficiency level. The date and place of the interview you’ll be able to know after the arrival at the Center for Teaching Foreign Citizens.

ENROLLMENT

Enrollment to Master’s Degree Program of Polotsk State University is based on the results of the interview. It is necessary to pass an interview to assess the required proficiency level in the language of chosen Program (English or Russian). There is also an additional interview on the content of the chosen Program.

Obligations of postgraduate students during the course:

to pass the PhD exam on a major discipline and PhD exams and credits on minor disciplines

to carry out research in accordance with the approved PhD thesis topic

to sum up the research materials carried out in the form of a special script of the thesis or its main parts

to publish the main scientific results of the thesis before its preliminary examination

to have not less than three scientific articles, published in scientific editions from the publishing editions list, and (or) in foreign scientific editions

to perform with a scholarly paper at no less than two conferences

to show a written report on the results of accomplishing an individual working plan for mid-term assessment

undergo the procedure of the final assessment

Students who have successfully finished postgraduate study receive the “researcher” scientific qualification by the Higher Certifying Commission and are awarded with a researcher’s diploma by the institution of postgraduate education.

Students who have successfully defended their theses in the council responsible for thesis defense receive a PhD degree and get a PhD diploma.
