Lower Shebelle University is a Regional and non-governmental Institution located in Merca District -Lower Shabelle-Somalia. It is a private higher education entity that aims to provide better opportunity and higher education services with reasonable cost for the young generation of Somali students who finished Secondary Schools.

Lower Shebelle University was founded in 2010 in the town of Marko, capital of Lower Shebelle Region in southern Somalia, to broadcast a message of thought and education, academic and prove its presence in that Region. University began her scientific career, with all its determination and insistence, thanks to God gained a good reputation, and special relations with their counterparts from scientific institutions in Somalia, building confidence and expertise, groping the needs of the community to become a beacon of creativity in various fields of science and knowledge.

Lower Shabelle University (LSU) Admission and Requirements

Any applicant should fulfill the following:

 A copy of secondary school leaving certificate (specifying individual subject grades) or if in final year of secondary school, a copy of school enrolment or exam ID or authenticated letter specifying the school you are attending.

 A letter explaining your interest in joining Lower Shebelle University.

 A letter from your sponsorship.

 Two Passport photographs.

 Student current contact addresses (valid email address and telephone number).

 Applicants will be required to sit an entrance examination.

 Admission will be confirmed upon submission of the original Certificate.

Academic Advising:

Academic advising begins at orientation when the student meets with a faculty member professional and peer advisor.

Upon enrolling in a major or professional program. The student is assigned a faculty advisor from the appropriate department or school. In some cases, orientation programs, students may be temporarily assigned to an advisor other than the one they have been assigned to for their academic career at LSHU.

Testing and Academic Placement:

Upon admission to the LSHU, new undergraduate students, and transfers take diagnostic tests for placement in Rhetoric and Composition or mathematics. The writing Essay is the diagnostic test used for composition placement.
