About the university:
GRSMU is as a successor of the first medical school in Belarus, the Grodno Medical Academy, established in 1775 by Antoni Tyzenhaus, former mayor of Grodno, for improving almost nonexistent healthcare system in the city. Jean-Emmanuel Gilibert, French botanist, Freemason and medical doctor, became its first rector. Under his rule were trained first doctors (former illiterate peasants) built botanical garden and a chemist’s shop. The academy in 1781 was reorganized into the Medicine Faculty of Vilna University. The medical school was renovated only during Soviet-era time in 1958. Firstly, it was a small university. Officially got its university status only in 2000.
University does conduct research. It takes part in EU’s Trans-European Mobility Programme for University Studies. Also, GRSMU publishes its own medical journal. Grodno State Medical University was recognized as one of the best of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according Expert RA. And the best medical university in Belarus

Faculty of General Medicine
Special emphasis is given to the training of specialists providing medical and prophylactic care in the sphere of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of adult population.
Faculty of Pediatrics
The Faculty of Pediatrics offers four majors: Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Gynecology.
Faculty of Medical Diagnostics
Specialists are trained in
“Medical Diagnostics” (term of study – 5 years, full-time studies, qualification – “Physician”).
“Nursing” (term of study – 4 years, extramural studies, qualification “Graduate Nurse”)
Faculty of Mental Health Medicine
The constituent departments of the faculty are as follows: Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, Department of General Pedagogy and Psychology, Department of Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy. The graduates of the Faculty are employed in the position of psychiatrists, addiction psychiatrists, psychotherapists. Many of them have Ph.D. degrees, many of them are chief medical officers at psychiatric and addiction medical institutions.

Foreign students can be trained in the specialty (major) General Medicine both in Russian and English, which corresponds to 6-year M.D. program.

Admission and Requirements.
The admission decision is made by the admission board on the basis of the submitted documents and the results of a personal interview. After that, between the university and the applicant signs an agreement on the whole period of study.
Attention! If the documents are issued in a foreign language, the candidate must provide a notarized translation of them in accordance with the established procedure.
OBTAINING A STUDY INVITATION
Step 1. Choosing Specialty.

1) Filling out the form (Russian language FORM / English language FORM)
with the personal treatment you must fill out an application (application MD / application PC)
2) Medical report on the state of health;

3) A photocopy of passport;
4) A photocopy of the birth certificate;
5) A photocopy of the certificate of full secondary education (! Original of Advanced Level !) with an indication of the studied subjects and the marks (points) obtained on them.
The core subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics.
The minimum passing score – С.
6) Certificate of non-criminal record (translated into English or Russian);

Step 3. Waiting for a response
After reviewing the submitted documents, the university makes a decision on admission or refusal. In case of a positive review of the documents, the university will notify you within 1 week and prepare an invitation to study.
All you have to do now – wait for a further response.
Step 4. Registration of an invitation to study
Citizens of visa-free countries must receive an invitation to study for a Belarusian visa. The invitation is issued at the university with a positive decision on admission to study. The university sends the original invitation ONLY by regular mail.
Attention! An invitation to study issued by the university is the basis for obtaining a visa. The validity of the invitation is determined by the work period of the admission campaign and does not exceed 3 months. Please plan the date of your arrival in accordance with this term.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES
If you planning to study in Belarus at the Grodno State Medical University, you need to provide for the following expenses:
The cost of the minimum set of products for 1 week is $ 50.
Meals in the university canteen (breakfast + lunch) – up to $ 3-5.
Transport ticket for all types of public transport – $ 15 (per month).
Public transport – buses, trolleybuses.
The weather temperature in Belarus in summer (June-August) is from +18 to +30 С°, in the autumn-winter period (October-March) from -10 to +10 С°, therefore it is necessary to foresee the costs of purchasing warm clothes and winter shoes (about $400 -500).
