Chea Sim University of Kamchaymear formerly Maharishi Vedic University, was established in 1991 under the initiative of the Royal Government of Cambodia with the support of Australian Aid for Cambodia Fund (AACF) in Kamchaymear District, Prey Veng Province corresponding to the long-term vision of Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, President of National Senate of Kingdom of Cambodia taking into consideration the future of youths in all provinces-municipalities of the Kingdom of Cambodia aiming to equip them with adequate capacity to respond to the labour market for contributing to the social development. Since AACF ended its aid package, Samdech Krola Hom Sar Kheng Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior was entrusted by the Royal Government with the leading role in the construction and development of Chea Sim University of Kamchaymear to promote its new image and trust in the field of higher education training.
So far, Chea Sim University of Kamchaymear has employed 80 academic staffs, most of whom are master’s degree holders and accepted applications from about 5000 students at main campus Kamchaymear district and its two principal branch offices of Prey Veng provincial branch and Kampong Cham provincial branch. The University has been continuing to satisfactorily improve the qualifications of its academic staffs and existing students and graduates towards meeting the current market demand. There has been an increase in the administrative and financial services in each department to respond to the actual demands. The provision of community services has been very attracting for the public. Meanwhile, attention has been paid on scientific research taken as the high priority at this University.
