Centre de formation bancaire du Togo (CFBT)

Before 1979, the training of bank agents in Togo was provided by the International Training Center for the Banking Profession of Paris (CIFPB-Paris), currently the Training Center for the Banking Profession (CFPB). On August 8, 1979, the Professional Association of Banks (APB) of Togo, then composed of eight (08) banks, created the Togo Banking Training Center (CFBT) to take charge of the on-site training of agents at the Certificate of Professional Competence (CAP) and Professional Certificate (BP) Bank employee. The Chairman of the APB at the time was Mr. TOSSOU Komlan Lucien, former Managing Director of the BTCI, and the Permanent Secretary Mrs. KOFFI Ayoko Solange, in charge of the management of the CFBT. But the preparation of executives for the Diploma of Higher Studies of the Institut Technique de Banque de Paris (DES-ITB) was still entrusted to the CFPB.

First lessons at Bonnecarrère high school To encourage this private initiative in the field of permanent training, the Togolese Government has ceded to the APB an administrative reserve where the Togo Banking Training Center (CFBT) is being built thanks to a subsidy from the Banks up to 22,000,000 FCFA and a bank loan of 47,466,672 FCFA repayable over a period of ten (10) years. Started in 1979, the construction of the Center ended in December 1981. At the start of the 1981-1982 academic year, CFBT training activities began on the current site. Tuition fees are his only resources. They are fixed each year by the APB (Professional Association of Banks) following the study of the budget presented by the Banking Training Center of Togo.

The Center has expanded its training offers with the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree course with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education in December 2017. The bachelor’s and master’s courses actually started at the CFBT in January 2018.

In addition, qualifying training in the form of thematic seminars are also organized for banks, microfinance institutions and insurance companies.
